General brewing instructions: 3g of leaves per 7oz (200ml) of water. Brew at 175F for 2 minutes. These green teas can be re-brewed up to 5 times using Gong Fu style.

Known as “popcorn tea” or “brown rice tea,” Genmaicha is a blend of tea leaves and toasted brown rice. Growers from Shizuoka, Japan produce this robust roasted nutty and sweet flavor with a unique texture with a liquor that is light green tinged slight brown from the rice. Typically, a late-harvest tea, this Genmaicha is harvested in spring for a more vibrant flavorful taste. Gong Fu or Western prep. Use 2.5 tsp (3g) per 7oz (200 ml) of water at 175F for 2 minutes.

Origin: Shizuoka, Japan

About Our Tea Offerings

Tea measurements and water amount and temperatures vary, based on your personal preferences. We advise rinsing tea for a few seconds before the first infusion, at the same temperature as the brewed water. This softens the leaves for brewing. Filtered water, if possible. Use our brewing instructions only as guidelines. Your preferences are the most important.

Most of our teas are organic, but some are not Certified Organic. Our tea descriptions will let you know which of them carry the USDA Certified Organic label. Importantly, know that we support and work directly with conscientious, small independent farmers.
