This Hagi-yaki ware matcha tea bowl has been fired in the famous Tinshu Kiln, considered one of the world’s greatest types of earthenware. Amorphous and simple in shape with a feeling of softness and warmth. The origins of Hagi-yaki go back about 400 years. Hairline cracks, known as Kannyu, in the foundation, allow for perfect ventilation and porousness of water. The incrustation of tea into the cracks through use, result in subtle changes in its pattern and color, adding to its charm. Signed by the potter on the bottom of the bowl.
